    • Keynote Presentation #1 "I Don't Know" -- It's Not Just an Excuse, It's an Ethical Issue,
Natalie Parrot, Licensed Professional School Counselor
The presentation presents an intriguing exploration of the phrase "I don't know" beyond its conventional use as an excuse, examining its ethical implications in the realm of school counseling. It highlights the importance of personal accountability, effective communication, and the ethical responsibilities inherent in the role of professional school counselors. As professional school counselors, we are regarded as the experts in the field regarding the social, emotional, academic, and behavioral needs of the student. Therefore, saying "I don't know" is not just an excuse—it's an ethical issue. The presentation aims to facilitate open discussions on strategies, emphasizing the importance of knowing when to act and the resources necessary for effective counseling practice. Ultimately, the proposed session seeks to enhance the toolkit of professional school counselors, enabling them to better address the holistic well-being of students and foster a positive school environment.
    • Keynote Presentation #2 Jesus + Therapy = Healing: Integrating Mental Health Into the Church,
Simone McIntyre; PhD, NCC, LCAS, LCMHC (NC), LPC, LAC (SC), CCM, MAC
The presentation explores the intersection of faith and mental health within the context of the church. It delves into the significance of recognizing and addressing mental health concerns within the faith community, emphasizing the complementary role of both spiritual practices and therapeutic interventions in fostering holistic healing. This presentation highlights the need to break down stigma, promote open dialogue, and encourage collaboration between church leaders and mental health professionals. Ultimately, the presentation seeks to offer insights on creating a supportive environment within the church that honors both spiritual and psychological well-being for individuals seeking healing and wholeness.
