Licensed Professional School Counselor

Mrs. Natalie Parrott, holds a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a master's degree in school counseling from Liberty University. Prior to her current role as Professional School Counselor, she gained valuable experience in various positions within the child welfare system. Mrs. Parrott has actively engaged in speaking engagements, including being interviewed for doctoral dissertations and participating in informal forums with graduate students interested in school counseling. Her contributions extend to serving as an internship site supervisor for graduate students and being a Certified Community Resiliency Model (CRM) teacher with the Trauma Resource Institute. In 2019, Mrs. Parrott made history as the first African American school counselor at a local elementary school, showcasing her dedication to diversity and inclusion in education. Her outstanding contributions were recognized in 2022 when she received the prestigious Hoyt Q. Bailey Agape Award for her impactful role in education. Throughout her career, Mrs. Parrott remains steadfast in her belief that school counselors play a crucial role in promoting the academic, personal, emotional, and social development of all students, reflecting her passion for holistic student support and success.

Dr. Simone McIntyre is a dually licensed mental health and addictions therapist in North and South Carolina.  She has worked in the field in various capacities since 2002 and strives to improve lives and strengthen communities through education and empowerment.  She earned her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision where her dissertation focused on the collaboration experiences between professional counselors and African American pastors. Dr. McIntyre has been a featured presenter at the 25th annual North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors, the Black Mental Health Symposium in Jacksonville, Florida, and the Hope Made Strong Summit in Canada, and The Bridging the Gap Symposium sponsored by the National Board of Certified Counselors. Dr. McIntyre is an assistant professor at Gardner-Webb University. Dr. McIntyre is a wife and mother of four. She is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and her favorite scripture is Romans 8:28: “And we know that all things work together for good of those who love the Lord, to them who are the called according to his purpose”.
