READING BETWEEN THE LINES: Empowering the Dyslexic learner and understanding Dysgraphia

Designed for novice to veteran educators, this course will increase understanding of dyslexia and dysgraphia. Many myths need to be dispelled and new procedures to address these old age concerns. The awareness will increase public understanding of dyslexia and dysgraphia and reduce stigma and misconceptions. Completion of the program results in a certificate of completion and 5 Gardner-Webb continuing education credits are earned. 

Outcomes 

  • Learning Objective 1: Define and describe dyslexia 
  • Learning Objective 2: Explain how Multisensory Structured Literacy Instruction fits in the classroom 
  • Learning Objective 3: Develop systematic, direct, explicit, and multisensory strategies for all learners 
  • Learning Objective 4: Describe the connections between handwriting and dysgraphia
