A New American School of String Playing

The O'Connor Method String Camp is a music instruction camp for violin, viola, cello, double bass, and orchestra based on the O'Connor Method. This camp uses American music, creativity, cultural diversity, and improvisation to improve learning for both children and adults who want to take string lessons while enjoying and excelling at music. This camp is directed by the author of the O'Connor Method Mark O'Connor and his wife Maggie O'Connor. The O'Connor Method employs classic violin technique and theory, combined with American music, history, creativity and improvisation to teach students to become better skilled classical violinists and string players in the 21st century. The Method features American tunes such as Simple Gifts, Deep River, Appalachia Waltz, The Entertainer, the music of Bach, and the tune that everybody starts with Boil 'em Cabbage Down, plus many more. American Classical music and arrangements for string orchestra are also featured prominently. The goal of the O'Connor Method is that young people everywhere will fall in love with playing music and become bold, imaginative and creative individuals in stringed instruments.
