Five-day summer camp

Monday, June 17 – Friday, June 21, 2024

Science Academy is an exciting five-day summer camp that equips students entering 9-12 grade, interested in science careers. The camp provides numerous hands-on activities in a university laboratory from a variety of scientific disciplines (molecular biology, human physiology, exercise science and forensic science), visits to numerous local science-related businesses (Rutherford Regional Medical Center, Cohesion Phenomics DNA lab and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Forensics Division) as well as interactions with various university departments (physician assistant, exercise science, university police, and admissions). Students interested in pursuing a degree or career in science are encouraged to apply to this camp.

A Typical Day at the Academy

  • 9 a.m. – Announcements
  • 9:10 a.m. – Biotechnology or Physiology Activities
  • 10:30 a.m. – Forensic Activity
  • 12:00 p.m. – Lunch
  • 1 p.m. – Cool Tour
  • 3 p.m. – Closing

Cost

This camp costs approximately $400 per student, but due to a generous grant from the Stonecutter Foundation, students only pay $50.
